7 Fundamental Human Needs

In the 1940’s Abraham Maslow proposed a theory in psychology called The Hierarchy of Needs. In this theory, Maslow argued that every person has inherent human needs that must be met in order for a well-rounded, psychologically healthy individual. The more you work with orphans or vulnerable children, the more you will see the damage or lack of completion in many of these basic needs. In this post, Dr. Acha discusses these same needs, with minor modification, and the importance of maintaining them both in yourself and in the children that you are attempting to care for.

What motivates people to do what they do? The answer is simple–meeting human needs.
